Privacy Policy

Effective May 3, 2026. This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Who we are

This site is operated by Dividend Collective LLC, a Colorado partnership-LLC ("we," "us," "our"). Our address is 445 Western Sky Circle, Longmont, Colorado, 80501. You can reach us at abhiram.avula01@dividendcollective.org.

What we collect

We try to collect as little as possible to run the newsletter. Specifically:

  • Account information — your email address and a password hash, stored by our authentication provider (Supabase). We never see your raw password.
  • Profile information — your name, if you choose to give it, and the membership status linked to your account.
  • Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers. We do receive a Stripe customer ID, your billing email, and high-level subscription metadata (status, plan, renewal date).
  • Site analytics — anonymous request logs from Netlify and Supabase (timestamp, IP, browser, page) used to operate the site and prevent abuse.
  • Cookies and local storage — a session token from Supabase to keep you signed in, and a small theme preference (light/dark) stored in your browser.

How we use your information

We use the data above to:

  • Create and authenticate your account.
  • Process your subscription payments (through Stripe).
  • Deliver the weekly newsletter and unlock subscriber-only articles.
  • Respond to your support requests.
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or technical problems.

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not buy or rent third-party tracking data.

Service providers we use

We trust a small number of vendors to operate the site. Each is contractually required to handle your data responsibly:

How long we keep data

We keep your account information for as long as you have an account with us. Subscription event logs are retained for up to seven years for tax and accounting purposes. If you delete your account, we will delete your profile within thirty days, except where we are required to keep specific records by law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your account and associated personal information.
  • Export your information in a portable format.
  • Opt out of marketing emails (every issue includes an unsubscribe link).

California, Colorado, and other state-specific rights

If you are a resident of California (CCPA/CPRA), Colorado (CPA), Virginia (VCDPA), or another state with comparable privacy law, the rights above apply to you, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising them. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California law.

Children

Our service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Subscribers must be 18 or older to purchase a paid membership, since payment is processed by Stripe and requires a valid debit or credit card.

Security

We use reasonable security practices to protect your data: encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted storage at rest with Supabase, password hashing, secrets stored only in Netlify environment variables, and row-level security on subscriber tables. No method of internet transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and notify subscribers by email. Continued use of the site after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
